Ford Thunderbird is thought to be one of the best years and
designs the model ever had. The 1955 Thunderbird was an
immediate smash hit. It was introduced in 1955 as a two seat
roadster, and gradually it has evolved into a luxury sports
coupe. You can find goodies for all years 1955 – 2005 models and
loads of information and products. The Ford T-bird was conceived
in 1955 as a response to a large postwar demand. With a base
price of $ 3500 even before 1957, it is an attractive purchase.
Believe it or not, the original
Thunderbird in 1955 had better exterior door handles. In 1956,
the famous porthole window was added and a optional removable
hard top. It entered production for the 1955 model year as a two
seat sporty car; unlike the superficially similar and slightly
earlier Chevrolet Corvette, the T-bird was never sold as a full
blown sports car. 1956 sales were 15,631, the lowest of all
three 2 seat model years. The 1957 model would be the last two
seat Ford ever built and sold to the public until the 1982 Ford.
The original 55-57 models came with several engine upgrades, and
was definitely a high performance car of the day.
The T-bird remains true to the original by
being a two seat roadster, as it was from 1955 to 1957, and
being powered by a V-8 engine. Powered by its original 292
cubic-inch V8 engine and automatic transmission, this car is
rust free. The 1955 to 1957 Ford T-birds are as symbolic of the
times as rock and roll music and bobby socks. The original 55-57
Thunderbird came with several engine upgrades, and was
definitely a high performance car of the day. The Thunderbird
combines design features from early Thunderbird, including the
original 1955-57 two seat and the 1961-63 Rocket Bird.
